A 56-year-old farmer has been missing for 11 days, with fears he may have fallen into a waterway while fixing a connection to his shed. Efforts to locate him have included an extensive search operation involving 50 personnel from the Defence Forces, Kerry Mountain Rescue, and local Coastguard Units. Despite finding his jeep, cell phone, and wallet near the farm, no further clues have emerged. Searches have concentrated on local waterways and farmland, while one theory suggests he could have been swept away by floodwaters.
The last recorded sighting of Mr Gaine is on CCTV at 9.48am on Thursday, March 20 when he bought phone credit.
Despite extensive searches of the farmyard and a 3km radius of this area no clue has been found as to the whereabouts of Mr Gaine.
A specialised dog unit concentrated on land searches while trained coastguard volunteers focused on water searches.
One possible theory being examined is that he fell into a waterway on his property and was swept away by floodwaters while fixing a water connection to his shed.
