Cheryl Fergison, known for her role as Heather Trot on EastEnders, disclosed how she sensed her character's demise. Since joining in 2007 and forming a close friendship with Shirley Carter, Heather was ultimately killed off by Ben Mitchell in 2012. In a recent interview, Fergison shared that her intuition about an impending exit stemmed from not being called for meetings regarding storylines, which often indicated a character's elimination. When she finally met producer Brian Kirkwood, it became clear her character was to be written out for the plot involving Shirley's grief.
"I had a feeling it might be coming. We'd always joke that either you're going up to talk about your storyline, or you're part of the culling."
"At the time, Brian Kirkwood was the producer, and when I walked in, he looked visibly upset. I had an inkling of what was coming."
"He explained that the higher-ups—the Powers That Be—had decided they wanted to explore Shirley dealing with grief, which meant Heather was going to die."
