Ali Abdul Basit, 19, was convicted of murdering Michael Patrick Afonso Peixoto, 27, in Thornton Heath, London. The attack occurred on December 19, 2023, when Peixoto was stabbed multiple times after being confronted by a group in a white BMW. DNA from a cigarette butt at the scene linked Basit to the crime. After fleeing to Pakistan, he returned to the UK and was arrested. Evidence, including mobile phone data, connected him to the incident and other convicted accomplices.
