Crackdown on cannabis cultivation sees 48m worth of drugs seized

Police have executed a large-scale operation targeting organized crime involving the cannabis trade across England and Wales. Dubbed Operation Mille and supported by the National Crime Agency, this operation resulted in the seizure of 48,328 cannabis plants worth an estimated £48 million. Authorities arrested 242 individuals during the crackdown, executing a total of 368 warrants. Additionally, police confiscated 65 weapons, including firearms, and nearly £200,000 in cash. Disturbingly, 19 of the arrested individuals were suspected victims of modern slavery, having been forced to work under debt bondage conditions.
