Torben Hersborg, 63, appeared at Highbury Corner Magistrates' Court and pleaded guilty to three charges of observing female university students in London with the intent to obtain sexual gratification. His actions took place on three separate occasions in December last year, where he was seen by a member of the public who reported suspicious behavior. Evidence collected by police included a camera and telescope found in his vehicle, as well as inappropriate images of the students. The prosecution detailed several troubling aspects of the case, including Hersborg's prior presence in the area.
On December 21 at about 9pm, a member of the public reported that a male in a car has been taking photographs and videos of students in university students' accommodation.
The member of the public also said he had seen the male in the car about four years ago. He also said he had seen the car about five times in the previous two weeks.
When police arrived on December 21, Hersborg was wearing black gloves and had black plastic bags lining the seats, the prosecution said.
Hersborg was searched and a battery was found in his pocket, while a camera and a telescope were found in his car.
