Folkestone & Hythe District Council will upgrade 37 bus shelters along routes in Folkestone, Hythe and the Romney Marsh with digital advertising screens, improved seating and reinforced windows. Bauer Media Outdoor UK will carry out the work, oversee maintenance and manage advertising at locations agreed by the council. The council described the scheme as "an enterprising initiative" intended to modernise shelters and encourage residents and visitors to use bus services. Advertisements on the digital screens are expected to provide "guaranteed income" for the council. The improvements are separate from the Folkestone - A Brighter Future Scheme and should be installed by the end of 2025.
