"According to the Metropolitan Police, the 10-year-old boy was hit by his car while crossing the road on his scooter at around 8.30am. The boy was treated by paramedics at the scene before being taken to hospital by air ambulance, where he remains in a critical condition. The 28-year-old driver of the vehicle stopped at the scene and was arrested on suspicion of drug driving and causing serious injury by dangerous driving. He has been interviewed under caution and bailed."

On Sunday at around 8.30am in Honeypot Lane near the junction with Taunton Way in Stanmore, a 10-year-old boy was struck by a car while crossing the road on his scooter. Paramedics treated the boy at the scene and an air ambulance transported him to hospital, where he remains in critical condition. The 28-year-old driver stopped, was arrested on suspicion of drug driving and causing serious injury by dangerous driving, interviewed under caution, and subsequently bailed. Police are urging witnesses and anyone with footage of a black Volkswagen Golf GTI between 8.15am and 8.35am to contact 101 or the Serious Collision Investigation Unit on 0207 960 8044, quoting 1714/25JAN.
