Body recovered from River Ribble after search for missing 12-year-old boy
Lancashire Police received a report of concern for safety after a 12-year-old boy went into the River Ribble at Ribchester and got into difficulty while swimming with friends. Officers were called just after 2pm on Tuesday. A large-scale search began using Lancashire Police’s underwater search unit and support from Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service, with North-West Ambulance Service providing additional support. The body was recovered from the river just before 8pm. Police believe the recovered body is that of the missing boy. The death is not being treated as suspicious.
