Israel's military escalation in Gaza has intensified with heavy strikes, killing at least 85 Palestinians overnight and shattering a fragile truce from January. Key targets included homes in civilian areas during nighttime raids, leading to numerous civilian casualties, including entire families. The Israeli Defense Forces claimed to hit multiple militant sites, responding to prior rocket fire from Gaza. Additionally, a renewed blockade on northern Gaza was reinstated, limiting civilian movement and heightening humanitarian concerns as casualties in the enclave rapidly increase.
At least 85 Palestinians have been killed in Israeli strikes in Gaza overnight and into Thursday, according to local health officials in the enclave.
The strikes reportedly hit multiple homes in the middle of the night, killing men, women and children as they slept.
The IDF also restored a blockade on northern Gaza, including Gaza City, that it had maintained for most of the war.
More than 400 Palestinians were killed on Tuesday alone, mostly women and children, according to the Health Ministry in Gaza.
