This week's tablehopper: an update from me.
Briefly

An unexpected personal matter caused a weeklong interruption and delayed planned communications. Health is fine and recovery allowed a drive to Tahoma, where rainy, chilly mountain air and Fortuna's enjoyment of chipmunk-watching provided comfort. Planned news items are postponed until return on Tuesday, September 9. The hopper will be offline for two weeks during a vacation with books and rosé, and no emails will be answered. Wishes for a pleasant Labor Day and improved conditions for those on the playa are expressed. Recent weather included thunder, lightning, and a heavy deluge on the West Shore.
Hello dear readers,My apologies for ghosting you last week! I was hoping to send out my final column last Tuesday before getting on the road for my annual summer break in Lake Tahoe, but, unfortunately, neither of those things happened. I had to deal with an unexpected personal matter over the past week, which put everything in my life on hold. (Sorry for not responding to some of your emails!)
Thankfully, I've made it through that rough patch (and my health is great, so please, don't worry)! I was able to drive up to Tahoma (AKA Stayhoma) 🌲 on Friday, where it has been so rainy and chilly, but the mountain air is delicious, and Fortuna is loving chipmunk TV. I certainly wasn't planning to be away from your inbox for three weeks, just two, but that's life.
At this point, I'm officially on my much-needed vacation. Your hopper is going to be offline for the next two weeks, with my nose in a book and glass of rosé, so I won't be responding to email. Your gurl needs a break. Have a fun Labor Day holiday, and here's hoping conditions improve for everyone who's out on the playa-it has been another rough Burn this year.
