Sacramento is apparently among top cities on earth to visit in 2025

Something the post got right was how Sacramento has evolved into a culinary hub within the Central Valley. It noted the capital's 15 Michelin-recognized restaurants, along with Pachamama Coffee and the contemporary Japanese restaurant Kru, whose chef Billy Ngo was a finalist for a 2024 James Beard award.
Sacramento offers numerous draws, from enjoying its river culture to joining a devoted fan base for a Kings game. The city is growing rapidly, benefiting from folks migrating from the Bay Area and bringing renewed energy to a metro that's not always top of mind for outsiders.
While that may have some merit, the selected examples seemed plucked out of a press release without much local perspective. Right out of the gate, the publication highlighted Sacramento International Airport, which is in the middle of a $1.3 billion expansion.
However, the travel magazine argues that 'travelers are finally taking California's capital city seriously as a destination in its own right.' Sacramento is sometimes passed over since it's a relatively short drive to more renowned destinations like San Francisco, Tahoe and Yosemite.
