Interstate 80 closed in the Sierra after several crashes

Interstate 80 experienced significant closures on Wednesday morning due to several serious accidents in the Sierra region. The California Highway Patrol reported that eastbound I-80 at Colfax was shut down after a big rig overturned around 4:30 a.m., damaging the guardrail and flipping onto its side. Additionally, westbound I-80 in Truckee faced closures due to a multi-vehicle collision involving at least seven big rigs. Further impacting traffic, Highway 20 was also closed between Nevada City and I-80, highlighting severe driving conditions in the area.
Eastbound I-80 at Colfax is closed as of 4:30 a.m. after a big rig overturned near the Eagle Lakes Road turnoff. The big rig hit the guardrail and flipped onto its side.
Westbound I-80 in Truckee is closed due to a multi-vehicle crash involving as many as seven big rigs. Highway 20 is also closed from Nevada City to I-80.
