Giovanna Gonzalez, a financial educator, moved from Chicago to Valencia, Spain, in April 2025. As a first-generation Mexican American, she initially avoided studying abroad due to financial constraints. After reflecting on her experiences while encouraging students to study abroad, she felt a strong desire to change her life. In 2024, she and her husband decided to move to Spain despite the challenges and cost involved, marking a shift to embrace new opportunities and experiences abroad.
Moving to Spain was an expensive process, but after a long period of reflection, we decided it was time for a change in our lives.
I encouraged students to study abroad. Those who did always light up when sharing their experiences of youth, freedom, and culture.
