How AAA predicts a mid-week holiday will impact Bay Area traffic
Briefly

"Traffic is one of the biggest headaches of travel, and if you can avoid that - man, it definitely puts you and the other people in the car, particularly kids, in a better mood," Northern California AAA spokesperson John Treanor told SFGATE.
"We really expect to see people traveling starting on Saturday and then continuing through Monday," Treanor said.
AAA projects that this trip will take nearly two and a half hours for travelers who leave Saturday, Dec. 21, at 7:30 p.m. - an 82% increase from the typical drive time and an average speed below 22 mph.
Travelers in Southern California are expected to see the worst congestion on Interstate 10 from Los Angeles to Palm Springs. The 107-mile drive could take almost three hours on Sunday, Dec. 22, if departing around 7:45 p.m.
