The Kelly parcel, an essential wildlife habitat, was purchased to protect an invaluable migration corridor, marking a significant step against ongoing environmental threats.
'Today marks an incredible milestone, decades in the making, to permanently protect an essential wildlife migration corridor and treasured landscape within Grand Teton National Park,' said Secretary of the Interior Deb Haaland.
'In short, the Kelly Parcel is an elemental part of the surrounding Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem, which is facing ever increasing threats from development, recreation and a warming climate,' noted author Ted Kerasote.
The purchase of the Kelly parcel for $100 million was financed by $62.4 million from the Land and Water Conservation Fund and $37.6 million from private donations.
