Tiny mobile home removed from Toronto park after occupant gets apartment | CBC News

A tiny mobile home was removed from St. James Park in Toronto after its occupant secured permanent housing, facilitated by city funding. The removal follows a trespass order ensuring the home would not be reoccupied. Ryan Donais, founder of Tiny Tiny Homes, highlighted this as a transition success, underlining that the temporary units were never intended for permanent residence. With three homes still in the park, Donais is working to assist the remaining occupants and stressed the urgent need for more shelter options in Toronto.
"These were always meant to be transitional. They were not meant to be permanent. They were meant to transition people into housing. Now that that's done, we're removing the unit and we can start on our next leg of the journey."
"This is a super exciting day," said Ryan Donais on the removal of the mobile home, emphasizing achievement for both the occupant and the housing initiative.
"We got no problem with moving the units. But the people need places to go. So we just need to make sure that there are proper housing alternatives available."
