Preliminary report into Pearson airport Delta crash details wing breaking off, fire | CBC News
Briefly

The Transportation Safety Board of Canada has issued a preliminary report regarding the Delta Air Lines flight that crashed at Toronto's Pearson airport on February 17, injuring 21 people. While the report provides initial details, it emphasizes the lack of sufficient information on the causes of the accident. The aircraft, operated by Endeavour Air, experienced a right wing detachment during landing, leading to an overturned position and subsequent fire. Evacuation commenced rapidly, with ARFF crews arriving shortly after the incident. An explosion was reported near the wing, with its cause still undetermined.
"It is too early to draw conclusions as to the causes of this accident," the board said in a news release Thursday.
"Passengers were hanging upside down in their seats, suspended by their safety belts, and many of the carry-on baggage and other items ended up on the aircraft ceiling."
"Shortly thereafter, an explosion occurred outside the aircraft in the area of the left wing root," the report reads. "The cause of this explosion has yet to be determined."
