HOUSTON, Texas -- Two jets taking off from Houston's Bush Intercontinental Airport narrowly avoided collision on Dec. 18, according to ABC News. According to air traffic control recordings obtained by ABC News, the flights were a Volaris Airlines flight to El Salvador and a United Express flight to Jackson, Miss. Flight records show the Volaris jet made an unauthorized right turn into the path of the United Express flight for an unknown reason.
The incident occurred on last Wednesday's Flight 87 from Deadhorse, Alaska, to Anchorage, a journey that takes about an hour and a half. During the flight, several passengers had moved seats away from the passenger, named by police as Kassian Fredericks, after becoming concerned by his behavior. Two men who sat behind him said they heard him talking to himself. One of them told investigators that he mentioned invisible people trying to take over the plane.
On Friday, the U.S. Department of Justice announced that a grand jury indicted a Bay Area woman, Reshma Kamath, on Nov. 13 on several charges related to the alleged assault of a flight crew. On June 28, Kamath boarded Air India flight 173 from New Delhi to San Francisco International Airport. Federal prosecutors alleged that during the flight, she verbally abused, threatened and struck two flight crew members.
About halfway through AA flight 2470's journey on September 16, Dilone left her seat and began "walking down the aisle and yelling," the probable cause affidavit states. At the same time, Dilone was "continually recording the entire aircraft," it alleges. When asked to stop filming, Dilone became enraged and "started to verbally threaten multiple flight attendants," who notified the captain and co-pilot, the affidavit goes on.
