Slate Auto has debuted an affordable electric pickup truck priced at $25,000, designed for customization with optional features after purchase. Backed by Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, the startup aims to provide a cost-effective alternative in the EV market, with deliveries set to begin at the end of 2026. The Slate Truck will offer essential specifications including a 52.7 kWh battery and a 150-mile range, positioning it as the most affordable electric truck in the U.S. market, challenging established competitors like Tesla and Rivian.
We wanted to get that cost out of the base vehicle. It really gives freedom of choice to the owner of what accessories they would want to put on the vehicle.
The Slate Truck, which is expected to be produced at an undetermined location in the Midwestern United States, would be the cheapest new EV and pickup truck in the US.
