Ford EV Chief Doug Field Is Leaving The Company
"I'm honored to have been a part of leading Ford during an unprecedented period of technology and market disruption. I believe Ford now has a winning technology strategy and plan."
"Field spearheaded the creation of Ford's so-called 'skunkworks' team, which is developing a next-generation EV platform in California."
"The shakeup comes during a pivotal time for Ford's electric vehicle ambitions. Late last year it canceled the F-150 Lightning pickup and a number of future models."
"A midsized pickup truck based on a new Universal EV Platform is planned for production in 2027, followed by more models using the same technology."
Doug Field, Ford's executive responsible for electric vehicles and software, will leave the company in May as part of a restructuring. He joined Ford from Apple in 2021 and previously worked on Tesla's Model 3. Field led the creation of a team focused on developing a next-generation EV platform. Alan Clarke will take over as vice president of Advanced Development Projects. This leadership change occurs during a critical period for Ford's electric vehicle strategy, following the cancellation of several models.
