The Tempo's identity 'was inspired by the rhythm of our city, our country, and the game of basketball. In play and in life, it's not just about how fast you move, but how you control the pulse of the world around you,' per the team's press release.
Initially, there was a planned launch with city-wide activations and a media tour in mid-January, but with leaks, the franchise accelerated their announcement.
The Toronto Tempo name reads the same in both French and English, emblematic of the team's aim to resonate with a diverse audience in Canada.
