The Toronto Raptors have signed Jamison Battle to a three-year standard NBA contract, marking a significant advancement for the undrafted forward. After starting as an Exhibit 10 and then a two-way player, Battle has shown potential by playing 35 games this season, averaging 5.4 points and a leading 41.7% shooting from three-point range. His exceptional G League performance, with 12.6 points and 55.6% shooting from beyond the arc, highlights his skills as a shooter and improvement in defense, which he has been focusing on during his time with the Raptors' affiliate team.
"I think defensively, (that's) the biggest thing for me, that's what I've been trying to work on," Battle said. "I think these last two weeks, I felt the most confident I've ever felt defensively."
Through 11 regular season G League games he averaged 12.6 points, 4.2 rebounds and 1.6 assists while connecting on a torrid 55.6 per cent of his triples.
Battle quickly played through a majority of his 50 NBA games - the limit for two-way players - as he already racked up 35 appearances with the Raptors thus far.
Awesome stuff. Raptors making use of the cap machinations to not only convert Battle but do it on longer-term!
