Maple Leafs writer says Bruins could be in the mix for Mitch Marner this offseason
Briefly

The Boston Bruins, coming off a disappointing season, have over $26 million in cap space and may target Mitch Marner, a star winger from Toronto, during free agency. While Marner's potential move to the Bruins is seen as surprising due to their rivalry, it can't be completely disregarded. ESPN's James Mirtle ranks other teams as more likely to acquire Marner, but includes the Bruins in the next tier of interest due to their strong roster. Remarkably, he gives Marner only a 2% chance of returning to the Maple Leafs this summer.
"It would be a bit of a heel turn for Marner, given they're such a big rival in the division, but I don't think we can rule it out entirely just on that basis."
"It was certainly a lost season in Boston this year, but do they try and pull a Capitals and retool quickly? They have a lot of strong pieces in place, so scorched earth doesn't seem like the way to go."
"After those four, Mirtle tabbed the Bruins among the teams in the next tier of teams vying for Marner - alongside the Ducks, Blackhawks, Avalanche, Blue Jackets, Red Wings, Panthers, Predators, Sharks, and Lightning."
"Marner will command one of the heftiest contracts in NHL history if he becomes a free agent, and the Bruins will have the cap space to make a competitive offer."
