"Durham police say an 82-year-old woman is dead after she was struck by a vehicle while attempting to cross a road in Whitby on Friday. In a post to social media Saturday, the Durham Regional Police Service said officers responded to a collision at Brock Street N. and Mary Street W. at approximately 1:15 p.m. According to Durham police, the pedestrian was transported to a Toronto-area hospital in life-threatening condition, where she later died."
"The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation, Durham police added. In a post to social media Friday, Durham police said the intersection of Brock Road N. and Mary Street W. was closed for the investigation. The roadways reopened at approximately 7 p.m. Friday, Durham police told CBC Toronto. Anyone with information is asked to contact police."
An 82-year-old woman was struck by a vehicle while attempting to cross a road in Whitby on Friday and later died at a Toronto-area hospital.
