Toronto will open four warming centres this Sunday evening due to dropping temperatures, aiming to provide warm shelter, meals, and pet-friendly access for vulnerable individuals.
The warming centres will remain open 24 hours a day until it's determined they can close, ensuring continuous support for those in need during harsh weather.
With an expected capacity of approximately 218 spaces across four locations, the city will assist anyone turned away by transporting them to other centres with openings.
Advocates have urged the city to keep warming centres open all winter, highlighting that an average night sees about 12,200 people sheltered in city facilities.
