Power outages possible in GTA on Sunday due to strong winds, rain: Environment Canada | CBC News
Briefly

Environment Canada has issued a weather statement for the Greater Toronto Area, signaling a rainy and windy St. Patrick's Day weekend. Residents can expect wind gusts of 60 to 80 km/h along with 10 to 20 millimeters of rain from Saturday night into Sunday, potentially causing localized flooding and pooling on roads. The warning emphasizes the risk of flying debris and possible power outages due to strong winds. Affected areas include Toronto and surrounding cities, with the weather conditions expected to improve by Sunday evening.
"Localized flooding in low-lying areas and water pooling on roads are possible due to reduced absorption of rainfall in the frozen ground," the alert warned.
Environment Canada cautioned that strong southerly winds could begin Sunday morning and continue into the afternoon, shifting with a cold front later.
The special weather statement alerts residents of Toronto and surrounding areas about significant rainfall and strong winds expected over St. Patrick's Day weekend.
"Wind gusts between 60 to 80 km/h are possible, with total rainfall amounts of 10 to 20 millimetres expected during the weather event on Sunday."
