North York Community Council has passed a motion objecting to a plan to reduce the number of ridings in Toronto by merging a North York riding with a Scarborough one.Willowdale Coun.Lily Cheng proposed the motion Wednesday, Feb. 22, in response to a Feb. 10 report by the Federal Electoral Boundaries Commission for Ontario that proposes to merge the riding of Don Valley East with Scarborough Centre, resulting in the elimination of one of Toronto's 25 federal ridings.
