The Ontario Science Centre's opening has been pushed back to 2029, disappointing many, including Jason Ash of Save Ontario's Science Centre who emphasized the loss of world-class science education for Ontario children.
According to Ontario's auditor general, the new Ontario Science Centre facility was previously expected to open as early as 2028, but now it is delayed by another year to 2029.
Jason Ash stated, "Simply put, the Ontario Science Centre was unique in that the majority of its business actually came from Ontarians, with tourism coming in second place." This reflects the centre's local significance.
The abrupt closure of the Ontario Science Centre due to structural concerns sheds light on ongoing infrastructure issues, resulting in a lack of access to science education for the community.
