"The victim was brought to the hospital in life-threatening condition and his condition is still serious but is no longer life-threatening, according to Insp. Jonathan Rose. The preliminary information we have is that this was a targeted event, Rose told reporters at a news conference later Monday morning. Rose said there is no threat to public safety at this time. However, Rose said he understands locals will be concerned about the violence."
"Police are searching for two male suspects who left the scene on foot and were last seen heading eastbound on Oxford Street, Rose said. Police are asking anyone with information or security or dash cam footage to contact them directly or Crime Stoppers anonymously. Residents can expect an increased police presence in the area as the investigation continues, Rose said."
A targeted shooting occurred at 2:38 a.m. near College Street and Augusta Avenue in Kensington Market. A man in his thirties sustained gunshot injuries and was transported to hospital in life-threatening condition; his status later improved to serious but is no longer life-threatening. The incident has been classified as a targeted event. Two male suspects fled the scene on foot and were last seen heading eastbound on Oxford Street. There is no current threat to public safety.
