Toronto city council will ask the Ontario government for a public inquiry into the delayed Eglinton Crosstown light rail transit line due to technical problems.
The inquiry will investigate the causes of delays and the relationship between provincial transit agency Metrolinx and Crosslinx, as well as project cost increases.
Coun. Josh Matlow expressed support from his colleagues, saying they seek transparency and accountability for what he termed the 'Eglinton Crosstown fiasco'.
The council requests presentations from Ontario Transportation Minister Prabmeet Sarkaria and Metrolinx CEO Phil Verster about the project's current status and future plans.
