"Stargate taught me everything about making television - it's written into my DNA,"
"I'm beyond thrilled that Amazon MGM Studios has entrusted me with guiding this incredible franchise into its next phase. For those who've kept the gate active through conventions, rewatches, and unwavering faith - this one's for you. And for those that are new to our world, I promise you're in for something extraordinary."
"Plot details about the new show are under wraps, per The Hollywood Reporter, but it will likely involve the titular devices, scattered across the universe by an ancient alien race, that connect planets via wormhole."
Prime Video is launching a new ongoing Stargate series created by Martin Gero, continuing the franchise that began with the 1994 MGM film starring Kurt Russell and James Spader. Plot details remain under wraps, but the story will likely involve the Stargate devices that connect planets via wormholes, scattered across the universe by an ancient alien race. The franchise spawned Stargate SG-1, Stargate Atlantis, and Stargate Universe, and has been dormant since 2011. Martin Gero will serve as showrunner and creator; he worked on all three original series and recently oversaw NBC's Quantum Leap revival. All three prior series are streaming on Prime Video.
