Sinner moves past elbow injury, ends Shelton run
Briefly

Jannik Sinner defeated Ben Shelton in straight sets, 7-6 (2), 6-4, 6-4, to advance to the Wimbledon semifinals. Sinner previously injured his right elbow but showed significant improvement. He is celebrated as a three-time major champion and reached his fourth consecutive Grand Slam semifinal after a recent loss in the French Open final. Sinner is set to face either Novak Djokovic or Flavio Cobolli in the next round. Ben Shelton sought to reach his third major semifinal but fell short in this match.
"It has improved a lot from yesterday to today -- yesterday my day was very short on the practice court. This is no excuse ... there is no better stage to play tennis, the atmosphere helps me."
"Sinner, wearing a white arm sleeve over the elbow, prevailed 7-6 (2), 6-4, 6-4 in the first top-10 showdown on the men's side at this year's tournament."
