Mass Effect TV Show's Latest Update Reveals A Key Detail
Briefly

Filming for the Mass Effect TV series may begin in Q4 2026. Development began in 2021 and the series entered active development in late 2024. Daniel Casey is credited as writer and executive producer, with EA's Michael Gamble and Ari Arad also serving as executive producers. No plot details are available yet, though the main video game series follows Commander Shepard's spacefaring events. The show is in development at Amazon MGM Studios and could appear on Prime Video. BioWare is developing a new Mass Effect game and prioritized it after Dragon Age: The Veilguard underperformed commercially in October 2024.
The Mass Effect show was first revealed back in 2021, so it's been in the works for a long time already. In November 2024, the TV series got a key update, when a report said the show was actually in development. The report said Daniel Casey (Fast & Furious 9) is writing and executive producing the show, while EA's Michael Gamble is an executive producer as well.
There are no plot details available as of yet for the Mass Effect show, but the main series follows the spacefaring events of Commander Shepard. A movie version of Mass Effect was planned at one point, but it never got off the ground. BioWare veteran Mac Walters, who has since left the company, said in 2021 that a Mass Effect TV show makes more sense than a film.
