"I actually thought it was a terrible name. Who calls a food store Barefoot Contessa?"
"I actually liked the name because it's about being elegant and earthy,"
"It would've been a terrible thing to change it."
Ina Garten purchased a gourmet food store called The Barefoot Contessa and initially disliked the name, even planning to change it. She later embraced the name, describing it as elegant and earthy and regretful that she almost altered it. Garten was reluctant to appear on television and resisted filming despite repeated calls from the Food Network. What she expected to be a few episodes became a long-running career. The original show ran for 20 seasons from 2002 to 2022, followed by Be My Guest with Ina Garten and other TV appearances and competitions.
