Microsoft has seemingly committed a self-induced supply chain attack on its own customers by mislabeling a critical OS upgrade as a security patch.
There’s still hope to catch this mistake before it becomes a disaster. A security patch that’s five gigabytes requires 32 GB of spare storage? Surely that’s a red flag!
Automation should work in our favor to prevent such errors, but in this instance, it facilitated the problem because humans made mistakes in the first place.
The mistake reflects a lack of oversight and accountability within Microsoft’s systems, suggesting that their current protocols are not adequate for global management.
