VCBB Broadband Pre-Apprenticeship Training Program Starts in Two Weeks
Briefly

The Vermont Community Broadband Board in collaboration with North Country Career Center is launching a broadband technician pre-apprenticeship program aimed at equipping individuals for entry-level roles in broadband communications. The initial three-week course begins on March 26 in Montpelier, with another starting April 30 in Newport. The free program will cover essential training domains including safety, teamwork, broadband skills, and practical operations such as fiber optic repair and pole climbing. As Vermont anticipates a rising demand for technicians due to incoming federal funding, this program serves to prepare locals for career opportunities without the burden of college debt.
The program will offer comprehensive training for an entry level broadband network technician, covering essential skills needed in the broadband communications field.
This is not just an opportunity for Vermont to find the workers it needs; it's a great way for Vermonters to start on a lucrative career path.
Participants can get high paying jobs at the same rate as people that come out with a four-year degree, but you don't have college debt.
The impetus for the program is an anticipated need for more technicians in the state once additional federal funding from the BEAD Program arrives.
