Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi has stated that autonomous vehicles (AVs) are expected to coexist with human drivers in a hybrid model over the next decade. He reassured Uber drivers that they will not feel immediate impacts from AV integration in the coming five years. Khosrowshahi noted that the rideshare business continues to grow, driven by partnerships with AV companies like Waymo. The gradual introduction of AVs will happen slowly, primarily involving human drivers during this transition period.
"You know, I don't think you are going to feel anything as it relates in the next five years," said chief executive Dara Khosrowshahi.
"I think we will operate in a hybrid network... By far predominantly human drivers, and then some AVs feathering in over the next 10 years."
