Tech company and biotech firm slash jobs in San Jose as layoffs linger
"France-based bioMerieux will close its entire facility on Baytech Drive by the end of 2026 in a permanent shutdown. The layoffs will occur in two phases. The first phase will take place starting on April 3 and the second phase on Dec. 18. All employees at the facility will be impacted, Erica Ruffin, bioMerieux senior vice president of human resources, wrote in the WARN notices. This closure is expected to be permanent."
"Illinois-based Zebra Technologies, whose products include smart data capture software and hardware systems, plans to eliminate 75 jobs in north San Jose. Zebra said shifts in its strategic thinking played a significant role in the company's decision to launch the San Jose layoffs. Starting on Feb. 9, 2026, Zebra workers at the company's site at 2811 Orchard Parkway in north San Jose will lose their jobs, the WARN notice states. The layoffs will continue until March 31. All the job cuts will be permanent."
