Several hundred people with blindness and low vision, along with their allies, protested outside Uber and Lyft's San Francisco HQ, accusing rideshare companies of illegally denying rides.
Organizers from the National Federation of the Blind highlighted that the rallies aim to draw attention to the companies' failure to stop discrimination against blind individuals, especially those with guide dogs.
Alex Hernandez, a blind protester, shared his distress about frequently being denied service, stating he's almost been run over by drivers who sped away.
In response to the criticism, Lyft stated that discrimination has no place in their community and strives to provide an inclusive platform for all riders.
