Household electricity bills to rise by 100 to fund investment in network
Briefly

The CRU stated the increased network charge reflects the necessary annual investment to ensure a resilient electricity supply while meeting growing customer demand and supporting decarbonisation.
Beginning in October, a monthly increase of €8.41 will impact household electricity bills within the context of larger annual investment needs highlighted by the CRU.
Households will also see an additional €40 annual charge linked to the Public Service Obligation levy to subsidise renewable energy generation as part of the transition.
Higher network costs in Ireland compared to Europe are attributed to the need for more infrastructure to serve relatively fewer customers, impacting overall expenses.
