Google unveiled new Pixel smartphones with deeper AI integrations, deviating from its autumn launch tradition to keep up with Apple's AI updates in September.
New AI features include searching information in screenshots and accessing Google's chatbot, Gemini, overlay on apps for Q&A and content generation.
Pixel 9 models, including Pixel 9 Pro and Pixel 9 Pro Fold, are priced higher, with the base model starting at $799 and shipping in August.
Google, holding less than 1% global smartphone market share, aims to compete with Apple and Samsung, who lead with 15.8% and 18.9% market share respectively.
