Apple has settled a class-action lawsuit worth $20 million regarding battery swelling issues in early Apple Watch models while denying any wrongdoing. The lawsuit, initiated in 2019, accused the first four generations of Apple Watches of having faulty batteries. Although Apple has agreed to compensate affected owners, they emphasize that the settlement does not indicate liability. Apple stated that the watches involved in the lawsuit are no longer sold, echoing industry challenges with battery issues that have also affected products from other manufacturers.
"This Agreement shall not be construed in any fashion as an admission of liability or wrongdoing by Apple," one passage late in the agreement states.
"While we strongly disagree with the claims made against these early generation Apple Watch models, we agreed to settle to avoid further litigation," it reads in part.
