Amazon, under CEO Andy Jassy, aims to reduce management roles by approximately 13,834, which could lead to savings of $2.1 billion to $3.6 billion for 2025.
With a current workforce of about 105,770 managers, Amazon is looking to increase the ratio of individual contributors, effectively cutting unnecessary layers of management.
Morgan Stanley estimates that eliminating the managerial positions will aid Amazon in moving faster and removing bureaucratic hurdles that slow progress and innovation.
Amazon stated that it had 'added a lot of managers' recently, and that now is an opportune time to review their organizational structure to eliminate roles where necessary.
