A top Salesforce executive says Benioff's ICE jokes were 'not OK'
""Marc made a very bad joke,""
""I'm not okay with it personally.""
""But that's something that Marc did, and I'm not gonna call him out in public out on the internet.""
""It's a violation of the Code of Conduct, and it's a fireable offense. And if we do catch you, we will fire you.""
Marc Benioff made jokes about ICE at a Salesforce employee-only kickoff, including a comment about agents surveilling employee travel. Employees reacted with anger on Slack. CTO Parker Harris addressed the controversy in an internal product and tech meeting, saying "Marc made a very bad joke" and that he was "not OK with it." Harris said someone had already criticized Benioff and that the criticism was leaked. Harris urged employees to discuss the matter internally, warned that leaking violates the Code of Conduct, called such leaks fireable offenses, and said the company would fire people caught leaking. Business Insider verified a meeting transcript and Salesforce did not respond; Benioff has not commented.
