He completed a master's and PhD focused on photodynamic therapy for oral infection, including a 12-participant clinical study that taught translation of basic science into practical solutions. Translational medicine was not widespread in Brazil then. In 2010 he was invited to develop nanotechnology cosmetics, working with biodiverse Brazilian oils. He bolstered entrepreneurial ambitions with a disruptive innovation course at Harvard Business School and now combines nanotechnology research at the University of Brasilia with founding Glia Innovation.
