A recent survey reveals a peculiar trend among Gen Z, who are utilizing dating apps not for love but to find assistance with tax filing. Nearly one-third are swiping to connect with potential accountants as the tax deadline approaches, showing a significant level of fiscal anxiety. This generation admits to feeling overwhelmed by the tax process, with many preferring to engage in tax preparation with a date. Comparatively, they experience higher stress levels toward taxes than previous generations, illustrating a unique blend of social and financial challenges.
The young generation also revealed that they are more likely to 'tackle taxes' with their date - 29% of them would ask their flame for a helping hand, compared to 21% of millennials.
The act of filing taxes 'seems more intimate than sleeping together,' according to Vice - and the trend comes as Gen Z admits they are fiscally illiterate.
To take things a step further, according to the survey results, 23% of Gen Z admitted that they would rather give up a paycheck - while 16% would take a vow of celibacy instead of learning how to file their taxes.
Older generations, like baby boomers, have had more time to deal with taxes over the years when tax preparation wasn't as automated as it is today, thus they've had to learn by doing.
