Lisa Schulner-Fine and Michael Fine's entrepreneurial journey began when Lisa, struggling to find stylish and sustainable shower curtains, decided to create her own. Frustrated by the poor quality of existing bath accessories, which felt unrepresentative of their design sensibilities, she envisioned addressing this gap with a creative approach. Despite her husband initially doubting the potential of focusing on shower curtains, he recognized her creativity and vision. Their passion ultimately led to the establishment of Quiet Town, a lifestyle brand focused on aesthetically pleasing and eco-friendly bathroom products.
I would be in his room in the dark in the middle of the night, holding him, and I would start daydreaming. For some reason, my mind would go to shower curtains.
We'd be at Bed Bath & Beyond with a big shopping cart, picking out terribly made plastic stuff that didn't feel like us at all.
In the beginning, Michael admits that he didn't quite understand the impetus for his wife's passion project. [I felt] like, This is crazy. Nobody cares about shower curtains.
To Lisa, bath accessories seemed like the 'biggest underdog category' that she could approach from a creative and sustainable perspective.
