Brightspeed has set an ambitious new target of five million connections, expanding from its initial goal of four million. With over two million connections already established, the company is actively deploying its advanced multi-gig-speed network. This growth is bolstered by more than $240 million in broadband grants, including a BEAD Program award from Louisiana. Brightspeed's recent grants in North Carolina will connect over 10,000 additional homes and businesses, further supporting its expansion across 20 states. CEO Tom Maguire emphasized the company's commitment to transforming telecommunications through a strategic multi-billion-dollar investment.
Brightspeed has expanded its original goal to reach four million homes and businesses, announcing this week its new corporate goal of five million connections.
Not only did we exceed our 2024 year-end fiber network build goal, but just three months into 2025, we have achieved another critical company milestone and delivered our state-of-the-art network to 2 million addresses.
Our well-planned execution of our multi-billion-dollar investment in transforming our telecommunications network has gained momentum.
The funding is part of the state's Completing Access to Broadband (CAB) program, which will connect 10,810 homes and businesses to high-speed broadband in 14 North Carolina counties.
