Daniel Cane '98, co-founder of Blackboard and co-CEO of Modernizing Medicine, was named Cornell Entrepreneur of the Year 2026 and will be honored on campus April 9-10 at the Entrepreneurship at Cornell Celebration Erza conference. Modernizing Medicine, co-founded by Cane in 2010, provides software for electronic health records, practice management, and patient engagement. Cane co-founded Blackboard as an undergraduate, helped take the company public, and grew it into a course management and student information system used by public schools and universities. Cane has received multiple recognitions, serves on regional business boards, established scholarship and institute programs, and advises Cornell's business college.
