"I had no plan,"
"I just wanted to get in the car and see what it feels like to drive for Lyft and hear the rider's story, but also experience it from a driver's perspective."
"I drove for a couple more hours - and I didn't tell anyone at Lyft I was doing this."
David Risher signed up as a Lyft driver just before his first day as CEO to experience driving and rider interactions firsthand. He deliberately started without a plan, rode for several hours, and at the end of his first outing revealed his identity to a passenger and requested a selfie, which he posted on LinkedIn. He drove additional hours without informing Lyft, and then made driving and sharing rider stories and selfies a regular habit. His posts on LinkedIn and X have attracted roughly 25,000 new followers.
